AGAIN, that is...

My pixiv account is: ライ -  www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=22…

I appreciate that you're looking out for pixiv artists and such... but a lot of DA artists actually have pixiv accounts, and can speak both japanese and english and many other languages.  I have to admit, this is a new experience for me.  It's rather bizarre.
Heeeey Deviantart loaded for once!

Anyway...

Leaving for Youmacon in Detroit for the weekend.  If you're in the area or attending, please say Hi! And maybe remind me to eat this time since I tend to forget this when I get busy or too distracted =w=

I'll be at their artist alley derping around and probably doodling more Tipos and other unmentionables on my table.  My partner won't be going so I'll be all by my lonesome… possibly talking to my neighbours or just to myself.

Or… drawing unmentionables.

The latter is more likely though.

Will have a semi-healthy supply of tales of Graces art and suikoden art as usual.

Will also try to be online during the evenings to play or harass certain individuals.  Mostly harass. Lovingly.

Likely.

Mostly…

You know who you are.

Youmacon - TOMORROW
Otakuthon is over!  Had a blast meeting people.  Also spotted a number of tales of graces cosplayers.  Totally made my day.

Big shout outs and love to the following people!

:iconchou-chan: - my awesome art group partner.  We had some trouble putting that old cage together but we somehow managed to build it so we could share the darned thing between our two tables.

:iconyamijay::iconeranthe::iconikeda::iconhanuwabbit::iconperishing-twinkie::iconnayuki-chan::iconyanimator: (your coffee run was a life saver!) and the awesome duo of Akui: Ill-intent

I also had a chance to meet :iconwickedworksstudio: which are artists I usually only see at Anime North and never have much of a chance to speak to.

Thanks to everyone who came by my table to chat, commission, or buy stuff.  I had a great time in Otakuthon this year because of all the people I met and derped around with.

After Convention Sale:

I have some left over stock from this convention, including the first print of the tales of Graces buttons.  Unfortunately, they are all limited because they are left over stock.  You can find the list here flowerwithnoname.tumblr.com/po… and flowerwithnoname.tumblr.com/po…

My Commission Slots are also open for the rest of August.

We just sold our house, same house we've lived in for 10 years.  So yes.. been very busy this month.  Selling the house was kind of out of the blue and we were lucky.  Our house was conditional sale 1 day in the market.  less than 4 days later, it was approved.  So by June 22, we no longer live here.

Basically our reason is that we're downgrading. The house we have is unreasonably big for only 4 people to live in.  And with each person so busy with work, maintenance is a hassle.  So we're now in the market for a small house, and with my parents already at the age where I should be supporting them or at least watch out for their situation, we've agreed on getting a townhouse.  This way, maintenance stays inside the house, outside is handled by hired workers.

Plus it would be a sorta small community to force them to socialize with their neighbours.  My dad in particular needs to do this, otherwise he drives me up the wall with conspiracies in life. orz

Anyway, with June 22 as our last day, I've been busy packing, sorting, chucking out things we don't need.  We'll likely do a garage sale at one point.  If you're in the Mississauga area and are interested in books, fabrics, etc, we'll be selling those away.  Oh. And hamster cages. I somehow have like... 3.

Aside all of this... I have so much stuff on the side going on.  Publishing, drawing, painting, and also the planning for a convention I work for.  Most of the bulk is done.  I'm just so tired all the time these days......

I was pretty confident about this when I first got it but....

it seems answering e-mails and processing things in general are very difficult when you have the flu.  "orz

Don't get sick guys.  Get the flu shot cause I know I can't due to my allergy to it.  You can help lower the risk for people who cannot get the flu shot from getting sick.

The flu is not fun to go through.....

................. I'm ashamed.  With the past few years being so rough with that certain person, I oddly managed to get over the situation a bit more quickly than I realized.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing but I did realize that I only learned how much more understanding and kind people are and how little I've given them in thanks.  I was a fool in that sense...

:iconeranthe: and :iconyamijay:.

Thank you for your patience and for sympathizing.  Your words were enough to help me battle through harsher thoughts and emphasize that there are things that need more priority than wallowing over a lost friendship.  May that have been your intention or not, I am feeling satisfied and calm despite the frustrations and turmoil the event threw my mind into.

That said, I have also come to a decision that I will cheat lent and only let go of the one thing that sucks the soul out of most individuals.  I have not touched the devil known as Facebook and the gosh-be-darned flash games that distracted me before I even realized that I was playing them to begin with.

However, since I opened a tumblr account, I can't seem to stop doodling and drawing.... so it seems I can't escape social networking sites in the end.

And for the sake of argument, I don't think God will mind if I continue with tumblr or DA considering I gave up that delicious group food known as meat since January.

Now comes Con-G sorta-report:

I attended Con-G, a convention held in Guelph Ontario, for Anime North and kinda just bummed around with :iconkurokami-kanzashi:.  They asked me to bring my buttons however just to use it as lure to the promo table.  It surprisingly worked.  It allowed me to have some pocket money to pay for drinks and dinner. Ha ha.    You do get pretty thirsty when you're advertising for a convention.  I was also trying to convince people to take free raffle tickets for random Anime Merchandise.

I also got a chance to hear old attendees speak of their convention experiences and even spoke to one or two parents who were curious about Anime North (because their child wanted to go but weren't sure if it was "safe").

We also had a super cool Fantasy convention table beside us with awesome staff.  One of them even drew us a map to the local sushi place Guelph had to offer.  (There weren't a lot of vegetarian options which made me sad)

There were a lot of interesting things going on because the promotional tables was in the same room as the Events room and their Artist Alley.  Met some artists I've encountered in other conventions and bought this neat Tetris magnet set from one of them.  Sad story regarding that magnet set....

It seems that we dropped it and lost it. "orz  I think it was a sign to make sure I don't put it on the fridge because it could distract people pretty easily.

I also got some other loot like a copy of Blood Alone (vol 1-4), Denkegi Daisy (5-8), and Natsume Yuujinchou (9-11).  I also bought some cute Japanese Disney gashapons from one of the dealers.  No new food erasers this time though.

We ended the evening by going to that Japanese restaurant we were told about and had a blast during dinner.  After that, we went home, slept, then work up for Sunday.

Sunday was pretty much the same but didn't get to do much.  At one point, I think I fell asleep with my eyes open.... which I think is pretty creepy.  Mind you, I only was like that because I didn't have to give out raffle tickets and have suffered from insomnia the previous evenings.  We stayed until a little after Cosplay Chess and headed back home to do errands.   I didn't do groceries yet and I planned to pass by the petshop to get tetras for my aquarium.

All in all, Con-G was pretty fun.  It was very busy to the point that the halls were getting pretty congested.  They may be outgrowing their location.  Plus, the hotel staff had a knack of being rude...  Being a person who worked in the hotel setting.... that kinda rubbed on me the wrong way.

Up Next! Doom-like 3 months!

It's lent guys.  I'm giving up my online social... uh thingies!  (I was about to say links) And recently ended a 7 year long false friendship after it came to the realization that my usefuless to them has outlived itself.  I can only be active in my e-mails due to volunteer and work reasons.  Anything I do for fun online is now off bounds.

I'll start looking for a new dojin circle partner for random funs but I will eventually introduce my new dynamic partner for a comic we hope to release starting in the summer! Wish us luck!

G Anime happened last weekend and as usual, I had loads of fun meeting new people.  I even met a person who suggested all of these new mangas, including a french graphic novel.  *thumbs up* I'll be using it as motivation to continue learning french!

After a month long seclusion in a bakery with nearly no other contact but my boss and co-workers, it was really nice to geek out with people.  I also had loads of fun doing commissions.  I was lucky this year to have minimum commissions involving 18+ content and a whole lot more original characters and some long out of touch fandoms (from me that is).

Shout outs to :iconeranthe::iconyamijay::iconchou-chan: and my sister to have made the weekend super cool.

In case anyone was wondering, :iconkurokami-kanzashi:'s works were also there.  She originally paid for the table and was planning to come but with school suddenly piling up, she was unable to go.

I also had a chance to see :iconperishing-twinkie: after her safe return from Japan and had a chance for a short chat with :iconikeda:.

Cool people all around.

In regards to my online commissions, thank you for all the people who did commission me.  Because of you, I am actually very close to reaching my goal of buying a food colour airbrush.  Especially to the friends who sent out my call for help or mentioned me in journals that I needed commissions to earn some pocket money with a purpose.

I'm keeping my commissions open for the meantime now that I've caught up with my list since I'm on a very drawing mood right now. Ha ha!  So between my work, applying for my diploma, and volunteer related stuff, I will be continuing with art.  Can't believe I am actually... I don't think I've declared anything close to that in years.

My commission information can be found here: shunjin.deviantart.com/journal…

PS: Is anyone interested in doing collabs...?  I'm lazy with colouring so it's just something I wanna toss out there.  I need a colouring partner...

Hey guys...

In recent events, I finally acquired time to work on commissions.  As to why!  I am done night school and now only have to focus on my work schedule and the two remaining bridal shows in Toronto!  There's only two more to go and I have more cake designs to finalize before the month is out.  HUZZAH!

Anyway, my experience in the bridal shows have also given me an opportunity to meet clients who want custom toppers, something not covered by my workplace since the ones we have on our display cakes were made by me.  Because of this, I am now in need of purchasing an airbrush for myself to use only for edible items. (I can't borrow the one from work obviously. Ahahahaha!)

Not a very cheap item but at least you know why I suddenly open my commission slots. Ha ha...  Anyway, commission prices can be found here.

Friends, I do ask you pass on the news to people who may like my style. :>  It's probably the best investment I can make with were my career has headed.

Cheers!
Nagisa

Commission prices follow:

Sketch -                $15
Ink -                     $25
Full Colour -         $45

* List only includes 1 person in an image.  I also only work with traditional mix media (watercolour, colour pencils, gouache mix)

Extras:

Per extra person - $5
Background         - $5 and up
Mature content   - $10 and up

* Mature content is for commissions that contain graphic content like sexual situations, yaoi, yuri, etc.  I also reserve the right to say no to anyone who commissions me for this if they are not of legal age (I don't like the idea of selling such content to minors).  I also reserve the right to say no if the content is too much for me or goes against my ethics. (ie: sexual situations that may involve a minor.)

Payment and Mail out Information:

Prefered payment is via money order.  But I can also take Paypal payments now.  I will not start commissions without receiving payment to avoid persons/clients who back out on paying after the commission is finished.

Prices also do not include mailing of the item.  Regular mail is between 3-5 dollars while express is 7 and up.  If you need this item on a certain date for a specific reason, please keep in mind that I would need about 2 weeks after receiving payment to finish and mail out the commission.

You may also pick up commissions at any of the conventions I attend.  Just be sure to notify me so I may have it ready for you at the convention for pick up.
I've been lurking for the past 2 and a half-ish weeks, but I'm sorta around!   Wanted to look at journal entries and just catch up with people I watch.

Currently working on pages and also January calls for a disturbing work schedule.  Work place has 3 wedding shows to do in one month so I will be working weekdays and weekends.  And starting monday means more wedding cake prep.

Uwah... So sleepy lately too....
*Scratches head*  There's a whole bunch of stuff going on right now, especially the past two weeks since my granddad passed away... so I'm in a bit of a conundrum and feeling like I'm walking knee deep in mud right now, both physically and emotionally.

I'm also doing work for the local anime convention's mini event for halloween.  So my schedule since the weekend until thursday will be looking like something like this:

wake up at 4am -> go to work at 5am-> work til 4pm-> go home and arrive at 6pm-> prep and bake for halloween fest til 12am-> sleep, rinse, repeat.

Wish me luck.............  (T ^ T)
Sooo... things got too busy and I never did post the after convention sale.  Before I knew it, it was already time for Anime Syracuse which happened last weekend.

Anime Syracuse is a one day convention in Syracuse, New York.  I had the privilege of attending it last year and returned this year to participate as an artist.  The convention was held at the State Fair grounds and has a very friendly setting.  I guess that's why I came back again this year.

I got to meet a number of people and I'm very thankful for everyone who came by and said hi.  Unfortunately, I didn't get to see much familiar cosplays.  Just shows I really need to find time and see all of the other things out there.  I did see a number of Vocaloid cosplays.  Guess they're really the in thing right now.

I got a few commissions.  I felt like a bit of a dork regarding one of them.  While I do a lot of 18+ work, I'm still pretty weak when it's the planning process of a commission.  I swear, if I didn't get super tan this summer, my flustering would be more obvious. (/)_()"   Also... meeting all of the new people did really make me realize I should draw more often.  I haven't updated any button sets since 2009 I think.  Not sure what series to do since I watch mostly stuff that have a small fandom, or is only a manga series.

Speaking of which... Anyone else read Akagami no Shirayukihime?  I really want copies of the tankubon now... ha ha... Such a good manga.

Anyway, I think it may be time to open commission slots.  Right now I've put it on hold because I want to finish the commissions I didn't get a chance to finish while at Syracuse.   It's pretty harsh when it's only a one day convention.

OH, regarding Cape et Kimono in Quebec City.  Hawt Saucy Tea will not be going in the end.  I recently acquired the job at the bakery and we are currently focusing on our products for January now that we're scheduled to attend as exhibitors at three bridal shows.  Our booth at the National Bridal Show in Toronto also acquired us a bit of work before December... and with our bakery also being a chocolatier, we have Christmas orders coming in already for wholesale.

My partner on the other hand has started her teacher's college courses, so she will be busy with projects on that weekend.  I'm pretty sad about it actually since we really had a blast last year at Cape et Kimono.  Plus we're missing out on seeing :iconeranthe:

So for now, our next HST related event will be at Anime North's Halloween and Doujinka Festival!  I technically won't be there as an artist but I will be there as a baker!  I'll be selling my baked goods which the proceeds will go to help for future Anime North events and also the JCCC.  I've yet to venture to a vegan menu but rest assured, I am 100% certified to bake and have an Ontario food handler's certificate, plus I refrain from using ingredients that are hydrogenated or pre-made or pre-packaged.

If you plan to attend, what sort of dessert would you like to see over there?  Preferably a dessert than can be served individually of course (which can be anything) and also does not involve anything like... setting it on fire (baked alaska for example).

The cafe will also have the usual onigiri made by the restaurant/store that's located inside the JCCC.

The rest I believe is pop, water, etc.  They should probably include juice in there this year for people who don't drink pop but need the sugar.

Convention Schedule:
Anime North Doujinka Festival - October 28, 2011
G Anime - January 27-29, 2012
Hawt Saucy Tea (me and my partner in crime) attended Otakuthon 2011 on August 12-14.  As mentioned before, we had a really rough start due to some administrative mix up and my partner actually lost her half table reservation despite paying for it in time.  After much negotiation, we were able to settle our differences peacefully as the Director kept an open ear to our situation.  It was a rough 3 days of pre-convention stress... but again, it was settled and now it is all water under the bridge. HURRAH

The hard part about the result of losing that half table is now we had to fit 3 artists to the full table I was sharing with :iconkurokami-kanzashi:.  Her and my work usually take a full table each, so the difficulty was to fit the works of 3 artists on that one poor little 2.5x6ft table.  The end result ended up being quite cluttered according to Kurokami's words, but we managed.

We also had some very interesting neighbours.  At one point, one of them had serenaded :iconchou-chan: with the Sainkoku Monogatari opening song while wearing a troll mask.   Same neighbours also had justine bieber masks at one point.  It was quite amusing.

The convention in general wasn't like what I last remembered it.  I last attended in 2009 and even though I was facing the wall along with :iconneomonki:, we still had really good traffic and sales.  This particular year felt very weak so it was a little bizarre sales wise.

Now, people wise, this is different.  I got to meet one of my regular commissioners and she gave me the challenge of drawing women in the raunchier category.  It was refreshing to draw... er... globes of flesh above instead of below.  I also had an interesting person come by and ask why I seem to like to draw men so much and that my display lacked a womanly presence.

He's right.  I should draw girls more often.  They're actually very fun to draw with the curves and all.

Returning to the topic of people, I also had the chance of meeting a suikoden fan during this convention.  Last one I met was during Anime North who I RPed with in a message board over the year.  It's always cool to meet people who know fandoms that aren't so loved these days.

There were also a few Natsume Yuujinchou fans that came to say hello and bought Nyanko-sensei buttons and bookmarks.  The cat with the exposed butt seems to be loved very much. ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ

Outside the convention, our group had loads of fun along with :iconmaiji: :iconyamijay: and :iconeranthe:.  We got to hang out with :iconom-nom-berries: as well as Chantel for dinner.  That was entertaining.

We also had the a chance to throw a small party on Saturday evening for :iconeranthe: + early birthdays for :iconchou-chan: and myself.

I think overall my experience in montreal this year has got to be one of my more memorable convention trips.  The people you meet and the people you get to know does make quite a difference to these things.  I look forward to meeting all these people again.  o(≧∇≦)o

PS: I will post a merchandise sale when I get home this weekend along with opening commission slots finally.  Prep time to go to other fun events!

We couldn't make it last year but Otakuthon 2011 is this coming weekend, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  It's a three day long event, so if you're in the area, be sure to check it out.

Our group had a rough start this week, but our table has been confirmed to be located at 477 in the Artist Area.  :iconchou-chan: and myself will be tabling together with :iconkurokami-kanzashi: along with other artists we've known and have been friends with from other conventions! (refer to isle of awesome image just below~)

Please do give us all a visit and even chat.  While I won't have new button designs (too busy with a whisk than a tablet pen as of late...) and such, I will be there doing the usual commission pile with my watercolours.  Regarding buttons, 1.5 inch buttons will be sold for $1.00 at the convention, and the 1 inch for 2 for $1.  Don't miss out on a sorta convention sale~!

Been curious...  What manga or Anime have you read recently that had a really good plot?  Like... not quite your usual shounen where it's not all about honour and manly fights and saving a princess.  Or harem stories?

Lately, I've seen some really strange ones that ended up being really meaningful.  My two favourites would probably be a series that came out just last season called "Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai" (Anohana in short)  and a somewhat older series called "Angel Beats!".  Both were recommended at random to me and both were surprisingly good.

If you haven't seen either.. hmm...  well... there be some spoilerish content starting here now if you haven't seen the whole series yet.

************

Anohana is basically about five childhood friends.  One summer, one of the five dies in an accident which eventually caused the friends to separate ways.  One summer some years later, the leader of the group has become a Hikikomori (a recluse I suppose) and he is being haunted by the ghost of the friend that died (and only he can see her).  And she requests of him to bring the whole group together somehow like the old days, etc etc.

It's semi painful to watch just cause of the premise, but the end result is pretty neat.

Angel Beats! is yet another tragedy type series.  It starts out really weird.  They introduce the premise as dead people defying gods' will.  The characters all had died and are thrown in this school setting... and there's a Haruhi-like character who is defying the school because she believes going with the flow will make one disappear.  It's an issue for the characters because they had all somehow died "unfairly" or had a really hug regret and thus why they don't want to pass on.

It's has some really random moments... throwing comedy to what's supposed to be a dark premise.  There's also a bit of culture references slapped in between cause the main character's way of thinking is both rational and a bit absurd.

I actually really like it but I also feel really angry about it.  It's probably why I like it.  It has something to do with the main character's past which just leaves you with this whole "HOLY SHIT THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT" feeling....  I think I cried at the episode that revealed it all because you realize just how unfortunate the guy is. They actually separate it in two episodes... First time you see it, it was sad... but then when they continued the rest in another episode (which isn't showed one after the other), you get slapped with a higher level of tragedy.  It's pretty overwhelming.  Ha ha ha.  I also love this song youtu.be/Qp3acWyAaA8

None tragedy wise, I encountered a manga called Break Blade a few months back.. Read it. Liked it...  Haven't seen an interesting Mecha, Shounen genre in a while...  And then recently found out that there was a movie series for it. (I was updating my knowledge on Kamiya Hiroshi's work)  Same people who did the Tales of Vesperia movie worked on it.... Was really cool.  I've yet to watch the 6th movie though.  Seems like they only started to change the content once they hit the 5th movie.  I'm still confused about a few things regarding it....

*****************

ANYWAY...  What about you?  Is there any series out there now you would recommend?  May it be manga or animated?  May it be Western or Eastern?  (Don't suggest something like Blue Exorcist though... I tend to watch anything that has a large yaoi following only after the hype dies down... =_=;; )

So nothing much going on so far.  I've been doing more focus on my culinary work than baking unfortunately.  It's weird to smell like meat or fish after being left to gut a bunch.  I have to admit, there's something very fun about gutting fish and chopping meat.  Does that sound a bit scary to you?

I have also been drawing.  Really I have... Just not anything worthy of posting.  Or... maybe content wise.  Hmmmmmmm....

Anyway this is a bit delayed since I was waiting for confirmation on the latter event, but my partner in crime and myself will be going to Otakuthon and Cape et Kimono again this year.

I missed Otakuthon last year due to personal reasons but seems like a whole bunch of awesome people I've met over the years are going this year too. (≧∇≦)ノ yeehaw~ So excited!

Cape et Kimono if you don't know of it is another convention in Quebec City.  This is my second year with them and I totally enjoyed myself there despite the really huge language barrier.  I still have fond memories of the security staff hovering about the entrance of the Artist Area (cause my table was right beside it) and watching me build my display which I had just bought that year.  I had a feeling they were waiting for it to fall on me. Ha ha ha!

There will always be a special place in my heart for small convention settings.  That particular convention solidified that feeling too.

My my.. don't I just feel so nostalgic.  I must be getting really old after all.  ウフフフフフ。。。( ̄▽ ̄)

Allo!  So this account is my new one and I am formerly known as :iconsilverreprisal:

No particular serious reason for the move aside me wanting to part with the previous name.  If you friend me and we've never spoken to each other, nice to meet you! (≧∇≦)ノ  Don't be afraid to comment in my journals or even send me notes.  It's about time I got over my fear of strangers in the internet.

If you're someone I know, have hung out with, buddies with in my old accounts, hello again and THANK YOU FOR NOT HATING ME COMPLETELY YET FOR BEING SO FLIGHTY!  ilu really....

I'm an anime fanartist, but I do try to do originals and I love working with watercolours and inks.  Painting and drawing is my side thing and I actually work in the Food industry as a Pastry and Culinary Chef.  Soo... main change will probably be the presence of some of the works I've done over time from school and up until now.

I also happen to love Vocaloid cover singers (those lovely talented singers in Nico Douga).  However, I'm ungrateful and hypocritical cause I don't like the actual Vocaloid synths or UTAUs.  I find their sounds (yes sounds) pretty creepy but I do sometimes find myself drawing their designs at a whim. Oh, and I firmly believe that Hetalia is the source of all my emotional suffering and it ruins families.  よろしくぅ!! (o`皿′o)ノ フフフフフフ。。。
